See you later, my soul // Hasta luego mi arma
“Hasta luego mi arma” (A well-known, common phrase here in Sevilla that is used in a similar fashion to “cariño”. It’s a warm, feel-good expression that you won’t hear in other parts of Spain. Mi arma comes from “mi alma” which is literally “my soul” but with the accent here some pronounce it as “mi arma” which is literally “my weapon” and so this pronunciation of the word/expression now reigns.)
Few things are as sweet as hearing this Sevillano phrase leaving the local fruit shop, stepping off the bus, leaving the local cafetería after your morning coffee.
“Hasta luego mi arma”
Pocas cosas son tan dulces como escuchar esa frase al salir de la frutería, al bajar del autobús, al salir de la cafetería debajo de tu casa después de haber tomado tu café por la mañana.
