This is so interesting - I wonder though what the attitude to alcohol is like in that long afternoon of socialising. Here in the UK everyone would be blind drunk by evening, but I suspect it's slower and steadier in Spain?
Absolutely, great point! IMO Spanish people are really good at drinking in moderation. Even at weddings, which sometimes last until 4/5/6am, guests are really good at pacing themselves. Similar to the reflection in this post; spending time together is about connecting, not trying to get drunk. I have plenty of friends here who don’t drink at all during these extended hangouts! Super common for Spaniards to order Coca Cola, Cerveza “Sin”, Nestea, etc!
