I remember traveling for work from the UK to Spain in the winter with a guy who didn't bring a coat because "it doesn't get cold in spain"! I'm actually en route to seville right this minute after spending a week in jerez. Thankfully, I remembered it gets cold in Spain
Ah, no way! It sounds like you've spent a lot of time in Spain, assuming you've been to Sevilla before? How long are you here for? Let me know if you want any recommendations for my fav bars, restaurants, etc.! :)
Yes many times! My other job is in wine and I'm. Obsessed with sherry, plus we lived in jerez for a month last year. Id love to know recommendations especially for tapas bars - my favourites are bodeguita romero and manolo Cateca and Las Teresas
Oh wow yes my partner is from El Puerto de Santa Maria so we frequently visit the sherry bodegas in Jerez, El Puerto and Sanlucar. If you haven't checked out Diez Merito yet I recommend their VORS tour, it's fantastic!
As for tapas bars, you've listed some great ones, Las Teresas is one of my go-to's (love the boquerones en vinagre and pimientos asados if you haven't tried those there).
A few extra recs:
- Trastienda: hole in the wall seafood place in Alfalfa, it's got some of the best seafood in town. It's pricier compared to typical tapas places but worth it if you're a seafood person. Must order: coquinas, gambas rojas a la plancha, and carabinero a la plancha con foie if they have it. The zanahoria aliñada and tostada con sardinas y tomate are also good starters!
- Las Golondrinas in Triana: authentic hole in the wall tapas spot. Must order: cabilleto de jamon, champiñones, chipiron. Note that there are 2 locations and one location has less on the menu so just be sure to check.
- T Espacio: this is more fine modern tapas dining but it's a cool open kitchen concept and there's only seating enough for about 20 people so it's very intimate. They have great wines too! Menu is seasonal so hard to recommend, but the waiters usually have good recs.
- Disparate: along the lines of t espacio, this is more fine dining modern tapas, it's in the michelin guide. Must oder (note the menu does change sometimes): Huevos Estrellados, Bombon de queso y chocolate, viera/scallops, buñuelos de bacalao, foie gras
- Condede: if you get tired of tapas this is a cool little Arepas kiosk in Mercado de Feria that I love! If you like spice they have a spicy salsa you can order on the side.
- Manu Jara: my absolute favorite pastry shop in Triana, the "caracol" is my favorite, and all of their desserts are so delicious. They should have mini "roscon de reyes" right now too if you want to try, it's a typical dessert during Reyes.
I'll stop there although the list goes on haha, hope you enjoy!
So helpful, thank you! I love Manu Jara, I'll definitely be checking out the mini roscon de reyes. And weirdly enough, I know the arepa place you're talking about! Golondrinas - I love it and is just around the corner from our hotel. The others are going on the list now...
